What is different here
Until recently these systems came into Victoria largely supply only: shipped from the manufacturer, with the family left to find someone to assemble them. Having the ramp supplied, installed and serviced locally by one business is new, and it is the gap this business was set up to fill. Every installation is project managed personally by the director.
The clinical specification stays yours
We build to what you specify. We confirm in writing what a given configuration achieves before anything is ordered, and we will tell you where a site will not support what has been asked for. Where a site constraint means your recommendation cannot be followed as written, the constraint is raised with you rather than changed on site.
RampAssist modular access ramps can be configured to meet applicable accessibility requirements, subject to site conditions, final design, installation and any required building approval, certification or project-specific engineering.
Where a modular ramp suits, and where it does not
A modular ramp
A permanent or indefinite need, a rise that requires a proper run, a rental or a property that cannot be altered, and any situation where the ramp may need to be reconfigured or removed later. Nothing is permanently altered, and most straight runs are installed in a day.
A threshold ramp
Often the honest answer for a single step or a raised door sill. Where that is the case we will say so, before quoting anything larger.
A portable or roll-up ramp
Short enough to be portable means steep enough to be difficult, and for a client self propelling, unsafe. Worth knowing where storage between uses is the real constraint.
Timber or composite
Where a ramp has to sit against a period home, match an existing deck, follow an unusual line, or simply not look like hospital equipment bolted to the front of a house. These are built to the site.

Purchase, and where hire fits
Most clients are better served by purchasing. Where the need is permanent or indefinite, which covers most NDIS home modifications and most aged care clients, the ramp is bought, installed and owned outright. It can be reconfigured or relocated later if the client moves, and nothing has to be handed back.
Hire is the narrower case. A client coming home on a discharge timeline, or waiting on a funding decision, who needs a ramp now and a decision later. Finite injury recovery under TAC or WorkSafe is the other. Supplied, installed and collected, handrails included.
Funding
Ramps and rails for a home can be funded through the NDIS, the Support at Home programme for older Australians, the Department of Veterans' Affairs, the Transport Accident Commission and WorkSafe Victoria, or paid privately.
Every scheme requires approval before the work, and most require an assessment before the approval. The most common way a funded ramp goes wrong is installing first and seeking payment after.
On the NDIS. Self managed and plan managed clients we invoice directly. Agency managed plans require a registered provider. We are not registered, so the supply routes through RampAssist, who are, and we install and service.
How it works
- Send what you have. Your assessment, or photographs and a rough measurement. Formal drawings are not needed.
- An indicative price comes back within one business day. Where a site visit is needed, the fee is credited in full if the client goes ahead, so there is no sunk cost for the family.
- Installation. By qualified tradespeople. Most straight runs are installed in a day, and nothing is fixed to the house where that is a requirement.
- Documentation. You receive the installation detail with the as-installed gradient, and photographs, for the client file and the funding body.
Installation carries a 24 month workmanship guarantee, with labour covered anywhere in Victoria.
Also supplied and installed
Handrails and grab rails, threshold ramps and floor transitions, stair nosings and tactile indicators. A whole entry can usually be done in one visit.
